I've looked in Target, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid, but no luck!Where can I purchase Milani Cosmetics in the SF Bay Area?
Well, Milani is really for women of color, so maybe a black or hispanic beauty supply store. Here, I find it in Walgreens because I live in a very ethnically diverse area (Chicago). However, I do find it in my local beauty supply. I know Sally's doesn't carry it.

Try Ebony Beauty Supply on 1440 Fillmore St, in SF. Their number is (414) 775-6982. Good LuckWhere can I purchase Milani Cosmetics in the SF Bay Area?

they are one of the best drugstore brands. It is really inexpensive and their eyeshadows are pretty colors. the lipgloss is good too. im not sure about their foundation though. i have never tried it.
yes, very good. But i prefer MAC

Do CCO's (Cosmetic Company Outlets)have mac brushes?

If they do how much cheaper are they? and also how much cheaper are all the eye shadows/pigments/paint pots. just an estimate please. I'm going to one on friday and I want to know roughly how much I will be able to buy. Thanks a lot!Do CCO's (Cosmetic Company Outlets)have mac brushes?
i'm not sure if all CCOs sell brushes but mine does. i think all items are 30% off. eyeshadows are usually 10$ %26amp; paintpots 11.75$. i dont know how much pigments are because i never bought pigments from a CCO. also, they might enforce the ';3'; rule which means you cant buy more than 3 of each items type like 3 eyeshadows, 3 lipsticks, etc so if you're planning a HUGE haul, try and bring someone with you. Oh and they might limit you to 300$ but ive never had that problems since i never went over 300$. have fun!

    Eyeshadow Brushes? (Cosmetic!!)?

So, I've been going like CRAZY trying to figure out what types of

    eyeshadow brushes i should have.

Like, do i need a blending brush, a huge eyeshadow brush, a small one. Please help me !! I've seen eyeshadow brushes that are synthetic, and then ones that are liek rlly big. Help me !!

I use makeup a lot, but i see tons of people with like trillions of eyeshadow brushes.

If you can, please give some examples of cheap eyeshadow brushes, like from eyeslipsface.com, thebrushcompany.com, and coastalscents.com

One or two MAC Brushes are okay, because SOON (not now) But SOON I will make a resolution to buy one MAC brush per paycheck .. Gotta catch em all !!Eyeshadow Brushes? (Cosmetic!!)?
Picking out the right make up brush is a actually a pain...especially for our budget. Most people prefer MAC, of course, because of the quality.

Since it looks like you already decided to get MAC brushes, then i suggest you buy:

-MAC 217 - a bit fluffy, %26amp; it works great on pressed eyeshadows... %26amp; one thing about it, is that it's fluffy so you can also use it to blend colors. 224 is a blender brush, its fluffier than this one %26amp; does a better job in blending, but i think 217 does a good job already.

-MAC 239 - a flat brush %26amp; it's great for packing colors on your lid, but you can't do shading %26amp; blending on that brush, though personally i think an ordinary ELF brush also does a good job on packing colors. %26amp; this type of brush is better for mineral eyeshadows, because minerals are loose powders %26amp; flat brushes hold them better than fluffy ones.

-MAC 242 - a filbert cut taklon brush, if you like to use cream based shadows, then i suggest you get this one. Cream eyeshadows %26amp; primers are the ones where you can use this brush with

-MAC 266 - another angle brush though it's smaller, this one is good for creating sharp lines. the hair is more natural compare to other brush which is synthetic. What's great about 266 is that you can use it to line your lashlines specially if you use gel liners.

-MAC 219 - a pencil brush, now this one is goof for smudging. especially if you wanted to create a smoky look. Use it to smudge your eyeliner.

Anyway, to make it short it will be as follows:

    217 - for blending %26amp; packing colors

239 - for packing colors especially for loose eyeshadows

    242 - for cream based eye make-ups

266 - to line your lashlines

    219 - for smudging

i found this nifty youtuber who gives good tutorials about make-up basics like brushes, shading %26amp; all stuff about make up. he doesn't do make up tutorials, but i recommend that you subscribe to him because his ideas are great! Like this video its about MAC brush vs painting brushes...a great alternative to MAC brushes!

    Different Cosmetic Face Brushes. Difference?

I've noticed that there's different types of brushes to apply makeup on your face. Does it really make a difference if you use certain brushes?

I've heard of the kabuki brush, flat top brush, blush brush, angled blush brush, buffer brush, chisel powder brush, etc.

I'd like to buy brushes online but I'm not sure which ones I should buy.

    Thankyou.Different Cosmetic Face Brushes. Difference?
well personally i do find a difference, like depending on the brush you use will determine how the makeup looks on you. like some brushes dont blend the makeup as well as opposed to you using a different brush. also, some brushes are rly good if u want to cover your whole face like minimize your pores or cover up a pimple. so yes there is a difference.Different Cosmetic Face Brushes. those are small and traver size brushes, the pouch is a standard purse makeup bag, it's about 7 inches long, so the brushes are a bit smaller than that to fit inside. :)

    thanks :)

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/x鈥?/a>What are each of these cosmetic brushes used for? Picture Included.?
    Okay here we go:

    1. Blush/ face brush. To apply your blush or face powder.

    2. Medium shader/fluff brush. Apply eyeshadow to lid area

    3. Flat top eyeliner brush. To apply your cake/creme eyeliners

    4. Can't really tell the shape of it but it looks like a lip brush

    5. Small Shader brush. To apply eyeshadow to your eyelid in small amounts

    6. Concealer brush. To apply concealer undereye or where concealing is needed. NOT lip brush. Its too big to be a lip brush. Lip brushes are normally smaller to do a precise job. If you us e a big one it would be too hard to apply lipstick/lipgloss without getting out of the lines of the lips.

    7. Fan brush. Used to lightly remove eyeshadow fallings without smearing or smudging it on your face/cheeks

    8. Can't really see could be an inner corner brush to apply eyeshadow to your inner corner

    9. Precise eyeliner brush. To apply cake/creme eyeliner. Good for doing winged line

    10. Lash brush. For applying mascara or separating eyelashes

    11. Lash separator/eyebrow groomer. One side o separate clumped lashes and other side to comb out eyebrows.

    12. Angled eyeliner brush. For creme/cake eyeliner or for shading/filling in eyebrows.

    13. Point eyeliner brush/Miscellaneous. For applying eyeliner or for other uses.

If you want to see how some of these brushes are used, go to youtube and search some of those brushes.

What are professional makeup/cosmetic brushes made out of? and what is a good brand?

ok I'm talking about brushes from Mac, Bare Escentuals, Estee Lauder, Sephora, etc.

what kind of hair are they made out of?

I found some brushes on Ebay, they say they have like goat hair and other animal hair in them, but they dont look very full and look non comparable to top quality brushes.

I normally use Sephora brushes, I bought a ton of them, sets and individuals sometime last year. I spent $100s of dollars on them.

It's time to buy somemore, but I dont have money like that anymore. lol. So does anyone know of a good quality brand of brushes?

I'm not saying I won't ';spend'; money on them. I'm saying just not that I can't spend that much.

so hopefully some of you get what I mean.

    thanks in advance

:)What are professional makeup/cosmetic brushes made out of? and what is a good brand?
Hello there.. so like the other person wrote, some brushes are synthetic and some contain animal hair (goat hair, etc.) I suggest that you do not buy random brushes off ebay. There are so many that are fake and there are lots that are just plain bad. I've had some bad experiences when it comes to brushes. Anyways, like you, I was buying lots of MAC and Sephora brushes and spend way too much money on them. When I heard of Coastal Scents, I decided to try their brushes too. I bought some palettes and brushes. The palettes were OK but the brushes far exceeded my expectations. Some of them are my favorite to use and they only cost around $3-6 a piece! I have not had any problems of shedding or ';bad smells'; from their brushes. They are absolutely wonderful at such a great price. I rarely buy and expensive brushes anymore because I think these are such a steal as such great quality. Here are some of my favorites:

    1. Wide Buffer Brush. This is by far my favorite brush of theirs. It's essential for putting on foundation and evening everything out.

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

    2. Liner Brush

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

    4. Shadow Brush

    5. Crease Brush

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

    6. Large Buffer

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

%26gt;%26gt; There are a few others that I've purchased but I think they've been discontinued because they're not on the site anymore.

I also think the brush guards are very important. They help a brush keep it's safe. Sometimes you wash your brushes and they dry in funky shapes. These keep the brushes looking new and make them look like you just bought them.

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

If you want to just go to the drugstore and pick of some basic brushes, EcoTools is nice. I'm sure you've heard of them. To me, they're not excellant and the Coastal Scents ones I have are better, but they get the job done. I like the eye brushes. I wish the face brushes were a tad bigger.

    http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j鈥?/a>

    http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.j鈥?/a>

Hope this helps you and you get your hands on some great, low priced brushes.

P.S. If you still did want to spend lots of money on your brushes, I would say don't go for Bare Escentuals brushes. Of course, MAC and Sephora brushes are great. I really like the Urban Decay Karma Powder Brush.

    http://www.urbandecay.com/categories/Pow鈥?/a>

Like I mentioned though, Coastal Scents will save you lots of money and give you quality brushes. Like all companies, not every single one of their brushes are good though. Do some research beforehand. People on the site also rate all fo the products so look into customer reviews. Also check makeupalley.com and read customer reviews on there too. The majority of their brushes are great and I've never had problems but that was because I researched which brushes were good and which were bad beforehand. Again, hope this helps! What are professional makeup/cosmetic brushes made out of? and what is a good brand?

    M.A.C. cosmetic brushes?

i want a new brush set..or well i just need new brushes..i usually use inexpensive brushes nothing as pricey as MAC brushes..are the mac brushes worth the price? if they won't last me a long time or the quality is not worth the price i don't want to waste my money into investing into the brushes..and are there any other companies that are comparable to mac brushes but are less pricey?M.A.C. cosmetic brushes?
The MAC brushes are worth the price. I used to buy the cheaper brushes, but you will really notice a difference in the quality (bristles falling out, wont last as long, application not as smooth etc.)

MAC does sell brush kits during holiday, which have several brushes, but those aren't even the same quality either as their regular brushes. The cheaper brushes are usually machine set/manufactured, synthetic fiber %26amp; have a shorter handle.

I say save your money and get a few MAC brushes %26amp; the MAC brush cleanser. They are worth the price...I've had some of my brushes for as long as 10 years :)...and I bet most people cant say that about their cheaper brushes. If you can only get a couple..bare minimum I would suggest...eye fluff brush, crease brush, powder brush.M.A.C. cosmetic brushes?
not worth it i buy mine at walmart or any other store and they work and there not as expensive

    i love mac cosmetic

    :]
If you want to get a good set of makeup brushes, I would suggest to look into the Sephora Brand. I think that these brushes are more bang for the buck.

Generally speaking , the reason why you want to spend $$$ on makeup brushes is the fact that they will last a long time, if not forever. Keeping the brushes clean with a good makeup brush cleaner like Clinique keeps the brushes in tip top shape. Never want to use regular soap on brushes, will make the glue that holds the bristles and handle together loose.
I bought a whole set of brushes for $35 (10 brushes or so) from the makeup company I work with. I love them and I think they are better than the cheaper ones my sister bought at the drug store. If you want information on how to purchase them, let me know.
I had the same problem..M.A.C is way to expensive, and there are other good brushes that equal the quality of M.A.C. Although M.A.C is amazing I found that Sonia Kashuk brushes are great and the price makes them even more appealing. I found them at a local Target store, or Target.com and range from a couple of dollars for smaller brushes to in the twenty's for the full coverage powder brushes. Also i found that i like MeetMark brushes a higher end of Avon, and Bare Essentials-(which are a little pricey too) Whatever brushes you do buy make sure you wash them with a brush cleaner with conditioner so your makeup wont dry your bristles out, and you can also purchase a spray to sanitize your brushes in between washes. %26lt;== that will make night and day of any brush you buy. I hope this helped and saved you some money so you can use it to buy more MAC makeup !!!GOOD LUCK

mark. has high quality, affordable real hair brushes. They range from $5 - 8. There is no need to spend a lot of money of high-end brands, these are great.Cosmetic brushes?
i know sephora is really good (love them, i swear i do) but are kinda pricy. two alternatives are:

coastalscents.com has really good brushes for really cheap. just don't get their eyeliner brush (the pointed one)

Essence of Beauty is great if you aren't for internet shopping. They are found only in CVS and a lot of people agree that they are a good alternative to the pricier sephora and MAC brushes. All of their brushes are really soft and versatile (and they are having a sale this week!!) as well as relatively inexpensive. don't get their kabuki (i love their retractable kabuki for it's convenience and it isn't bad but i think it's worth the extra money to buy a more expensive kabuki in this case...same with coastal scents)
    http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh鈥?/a>

They are kind of expensive, but they are of good quality plus the set has everything you will need to do your makeup. These cosmetic brushes will last and they work well too.
Even though Sephora has good brushes MACs are so much better. They have a lot of different sizes and styles. They are so nice and they are soft on your skin. Perfect for the tenderness of eyes.

I completely and totally recomend MAC they are what i use every day!
sephora brushes and too faced teddy bear hair brush about 60 for each set
    sephora
coastalscents.com has brushes that are just like MAC's brushes but WAYYYYY cheaper.

    Cosmetic Brushes Marking ?

Why do people ';mark'; their cosmetic brushes?Cosmetic Brushes Marking ?
Sometimes makeup artists do it so that they don't get their brushes mixed up with anyone else's. MAC brushes are pretty popular and if you're working around a bunch of other makeup artists, it's easy to lose track of one and there goes like $20 down the drain. Marking them just makes it easier to be identified. Good luck!Cosmetic Brushes Marking ?
I've never seen anyone mark their brushes.

The best brushes are MAC, I know they are pricey, but they are WELL worth the expense. They are really good, you can wash them over and over (baby shampoo works) and they last forever! The cheaper ones always work for a bit, but you will buy them more often! Are there any inexpensive cosmetic brushes that don't leave behind bristles on your skin after application
Sephora brand makeup brushes are pretty good. Not too expensive but they deliver.
Try the A-Design professional brushes. You can buy a mini set with all the essentials for $45 and they are REALLY good quality brushes. http://adesignbrushes.com/

I have some in my kit and I LOVE them. Take good care of them by washing your brushes with moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Brushes are made of natural hair so if you wouldn't use it on your hair then don't use it on your brushes. Don't forget to condition them as well. If drying products (alcohol based brush cleaners or baby shampoo) are used on the brushes then the bristles become brittle and break off just like human hair. Treat them well and they'll last a lifetime. I've had mine for over 10 years now and they look brand new. I get compliments on them all the time.
Believe it or not Avon has good brushes. They are inexpensive.

Lancome has the softest brushes, if you were gonna splurge I'd suggest them.
Bath and Bodyworks. They actually have a sale going on right now....75% off all makeup brushes. So hurry cuz the sale might end soon. :))
Go to e.l.f and look at their make up brushes. www.eyeslipsface.com
BeautiControl has amazing brushes. My mom's friend has had hers for over 30 years and she says they're still just the way they were the day she bought them. I'm not sure if you can get them on the website, but email me if you're interested and I can get some for you. www.beautipage.com/Jwhittey.

Are MAC cosmetic brushes really worth it?

Hi! In my opinion, yes they are worth it. As long as you take good care of it, it will last you a long time. I own a couple of MAC brushes accumulated over the years and it still looks the same as the day I bought it. The Essence of Beauty brushes (from CVS) that I own for a little over a year now have been shedding (except the concealer brush) and I take the same care for it as my MAC brushes. Eventually, if I prefer to use these brushes, I'd have to buy again. These are good brushes though, don't get me wrong. It's just not in for the long haul.

My point is, you don't have to keep on buying make-up brushes so it's best to buy one and forget about buying another (at least in a long, long time). It's not supposed to be ';used up'; like make-up products are.

So, does it make sense to buy a $25 eye make-up brush or a $50 face brush that can last me 5 years [yes, it can last longer than that, even]? Hells, yea.Are MAC cosmetic brushes really worth it?
the thing about MAC brushes are that they are extremely high quality (no shedding, soft) and each brush has multiple purposes. i think that some of the face brushes can be worth it for that reason, but you can still find good quality, cheap brush MAC dupes that can give nearly the same effect such as sigma, coastal scents, etc. as for MAC e/s brushes, i think that's a complete waste of money because most e/s brushes--including drugstore ones, don't shed and are still soft. it's not that hard to find good e/s brushes. Are MAC cosmetic brushes really worth it?
It depends on the person. I believe it's worth it if you know you are going into a field of cosmetology or you want really good quality brushes for awhile.

I like to buy them because they can last forever if you take care of them. It's an investment, like most makeup gurus from youtube says. If you are thinking of buying some, look up information on which brushes you want first.

    Hope this helps :)
I think some of MAC's brushes are worth the investment because of quality, such as the 219 and 224-which are used near the delicate eye area and I found that other brushes that are poorly made hurt my eye area. But other brushes, such as an angled brush can easily be substitute for a cheaper alternative or even try Michael's Craft Store, I have bought some brushes from there are they work just as good. But it really is personal preference and how you apply your makeup.
Yes, but only if you're going to get enough use out of them to make them worth the investment. And only if you know how to properly take care of them (Clean, sanitize, condition them, etc.) to make them last long enough to make them worth the money.

If you don't feel that you're ready for such a hefty investment, be sure to check out Sigma brushes over at www.sigmamakeup.com .

They're handmade just like MAC brushes, the quality is usually 100% the same, and they're half the price. I bought an entire set of Sigma brushes for $80. In the set, there were 2 brushes that I already had from MAC that cost me over $100. Totally worthwhile.
yeahh:) i didnt think so at first, but i slowly started buying some, and they really make my makeup look soo much better. what i like to do is just buy one brush/paycheck, that way i build them up, so you dont have to go spend a bunch of money buying a ton at a time:)
yes! they're hand made, and they have a great variety of brushes. i really haven't found anything as good as mac.

however if your looking for a decent set of tools for a cheaper price, try eco tools. they're super soft and work really well.
I don't think so. But that is just me! :)

Where do you buy your cosmetic brushes?

Target. I own one Benefit brush, but I don't use it that often. I also own a Sonia Kashuk set that I got at Target. I only use two of the brushes from the set though. I pretty much use the cheap $2 brushes that I got at Target. I bought a bunch of them so I alternate using them. They work fine for me, no shedding or anything. I buy mine at Lancome.

CVS/Walgreens surprisingly has a wide selection of brushes for around $4.00-$15.00 apiece. You can buy them in a pack or individually. The only thing to be mindful of is not all brushes are natural (synthetic fibers that ';look'; natural).

i dont think theres a way to tell on ebay
I have also had this experience on ebay with expensive beauty items etc!

What I do first is I check the sellers feedback and if its 100% I then ask them to reassure me that the item is genuine and Id also ask if I'm not satisfied with the item once it arrives can I return it for a full refund! That way I'm able to check the product and if I think its not real then I can get a refund! If the seller allows a refund then they're more likely to be genuine! If you do buy the Mac brushes then you could take them to a Mac retailer and ask them if they're fake or not Ive done this lots of times with expensive items most people don't mind!

Not really. EcoTools have the best cosmetic brushes. Plus, they're really affordable. Is goat hair cosmetic brushes good for the skin and is it softer and is it better then other hair?
I think their pretty good synthetic is usually cheaper though but if you got the cash go for the actual hair. I think real hair might last longer. i got some nice cosmetic brushes or christmas, and i want to know how (or if is should clean them) after i use them. i want to keep them nice for as long as possible. i have always had cheap brushes so i never really cared, i would just toss them out and get new ones. How should i clean cosmetic brushes?
It's important to keep your brushes clean, otherwise they'll gather bacteria and transfer it onto your skin. This will inevitably cause pimples and blackheads. An effective and quick way to clean your brushes is to use baby wipes. This method will clean any and all makeup brushes you may have.

For a deeper, more effective clean, try a dab of baby shampoo and some lukewarm water.

Good luck and Happy Holidays! How should i clean cosmetic brushes?
Get a mild cleanser or soap and wet them with water.

Rub the cleanser in the brush while running it underwater.

Then ring out the water and put it on a counter to dry.
i dont think there is a GOOD way to clean them but there is a way to keep them clean. After every use, brush off the remaining make up on a sheet of paper.

I am about to place my first order with elf cosmetics, but am unsure of which foundation brush to order. The studio angled or the regular one.

The studio line is supposed to be better, but the regular one works good.. Get them both! Everything there is super cheap. Dont order their concealer or face makeup, its not the best. Their mineral blush is GREAT! They also have great reviews on their brushes, probably because they're super cheap and good to use! The fingernail polishes are good. I wouldn't advise you to buy lip products, because they dont have so great of reviews. The blotting papers are wonderful, you should try them. The mineral line is good if you like mineral makeup.

New cosmetic brush set....and no clue how to use it.?

For Christmas, I received a lovely 8 piece cosmetic brush set, compact included, made by The Color Workshop. The brushes are not labeled, but a message on the packaging says it includes:

    sponge applicator

    lip brush

    blush brush

    powder brush

    fan dusting brush

    finishing brush

    shading brush

If anyone could describe which is which and explain what each does, or give me a link to a website that could give me simple instructions on how to use them, I would be very grateful. Thank you!New cosmetic brush set....and no clue how to use it.?

I live in Manchester soooo......?n yh wat do u call the brushes that are flat from the front and are black but tips White and what are they for??? Thanx! XWhat do you think of coastelscents cosmetic brushes?
firstly the brush you are describing like a MAC 188 or 187 can be used for alot, blush, bronzer, foundation, and powder. Usually they are called a Duo-fibre brush or a stippling brush because they have 2 types of fibre and because the spacing of the fibre stipples the product on to the brush for a very even application.

for great but cost effective brushes coastascents is great but i would check on shipping! eyeslipsface.com (ELF) also has amazing brushes and they cost from $1-$3US and i believe they have a European site also.

Coastal scents has some really good brushes and they are very budget friendly. There shipping is really fast. I only had an issue with one brush it smelled a little weird, but after i washed it the first time it was alright. The brush that your talking about is a stippling brush or some people call it a skunk brush since it resembles a skunk. You can use it to apply blush, or bronzer, but most people use it for liquid foundation and dab it on there face becuse it gives an airbrushed affect.

What do you use to clean your MAC cosmetic brushes?

I just bought mine and I'm not sure how often to clean them or what to use. What do you use to clean your MAC cosmetic brushes?
Wash the brush as soon as you get home from the store! Get brush cleaner, or you can use baby shampoo. Wet the brush and add some shampoo or brush cleaer. Work it up into a lather and sweep the brush across you hand back and forth (as you would when applying powder) Rinse really well and squeeze the water out. Reshape the bristles so they dry in the shape of the brush and lay flat to dry.

I clean my brushes like this about once a week.

In the meantime you can spot clean them...which is applying some brush cleaner and sweeping the brush against a towel until it comes clean. This is better for angle brushes and eyeshadow brushes.

People say you need to wash powder/blush brushes after every use, but I think that is a little excessive. I lather them up about once a week.

I wash my foundation brush after every use and I spot clean my eyeshadow brushes.

I store my brushes with the handle facing downwards in a glass. What do you use to clean your MAC cosmetic brushes?
    brush cleaner liquid

What's the best way to clean cosmetic brushes?

you can either buy a special cleanser for make up brushes, or you can simply use a very gentle shampoo such as baby shampoo and very gently massage it into the bristles. wipe it on a tissue (don't dry it aggressively) and let it air dry. if you want really soft brushes you can even use a conditioner on them, but make sure that any conditioner you use on them is all natural, such as ones from lush, because normal conditioners coat the hair in a plastic film which makes them appear softer. on brushes however, this will make them stick together slightly and they won't apply make up as well as they did. i would suggest not to condition blusher brushes etc. but use it on soft brushes such as foundation brushes, as blusher brushes and such rely on the slightly spiky ends to diffuse the powder evenly and effectively.

-sorry, ended up longer than i meant it to be!What's the best way to clean cosmetic brushes?
What I do to clean my brushes, is I rinse my brushes with warm water and add 1 or 2 little drops of baby soap. Then I run my fingers through the brush and tap them on my finger.

To dry, I then press any excess water off the brush and set it in a cup JUST for brushes.

Hope this helps! What's the best way to clean cosmetic brushes?
They say to use a soft detergent but i look at it as if all brushes are made of hair and what works for my hair should work for the brush, there for I use shampoo works for me
I overheard a makeup artist at Sephora saying that using Johnsons baby shampoo works well to clean brushes because it's effective yet really gentle :)
You can use baby soap or regular body wash %26amp; warm water...

There are cleansers made specifically for cleaning make up brushes that you can find in any pharmacy or department store.
dont put soap in the brushes as someone said because that will just ruin the brush fur.

just use warm water and let it dry naturally or leave it in the fridge

Hey hun just go to Sephora, that's where I get all my brushes because the makeup itself is too expensive for me to buy the brushes that come with it. I just got one for eyeliner for about 20 dollars and they wanted me to buy the brush for an extra 20 bucks, but I found the same one at Sephora for only 16 dollars. They sell a bunch of kits too but you can just buy them individually that way it is even cheaper. I hope this helps.

or you can get CVS's Essence of Beauty double sided brushes kit. it's all the basics: foundation, concealer, powder, eyeshadow, blush, and blending brushes for only 15 dollars. (:

Essence of Beauty brushes are great. They're sold at CVS, and the ones I've used are really great, especially the ones they have for eyeshadow. You can get a package with 5 or 6 basic brushes for all of your makeup for under $10.

Is ELF a good brand for cosmetics and make up brushes?

is anything from the ELF brand actually any good?

including make up brushes etc?Is ELF a good brand for cosmetics and make up brushes?
its really cheap makeup, i mean its ok, but i dont reccomend it. it doesnt stay on and the makeup globs on and its rele weird. Is ELF a good brand for cosmetics and make up brushes?
Cheap cosmetics are ok for beginners, and if you wanted to do a light everyday look. As it gets pretty expensive to use things like Bare Minerals everyday or Bobbi Brown. As for brushes, it is just a matter of you knowing how to work with them, but I find that more expensive brushes tend to shed less. I purchase Sephora brushed and hardly ever have a problem with them shedding, but believe it or not my Bare Minerals brushes shed more and they cost a little more I think. I always buy gift sets so i am not positive on the cost for them.
the cosmetics SUCK but any brushes are universal. anyone can use any brush if they know what theyre doing. if youre still playing dress up, then use ELF. or going to a halloween party. but if you want to look all grown up, id go with a mix: Covergirl or maybelline foundation, ALWAYS use Rimmel for eyes (eyeliner, mascara, color) or Max Factor is also good eye makeup but it tends to get a bit expensive. it also depends on your skin. if it is dry, use a matte mousse foundation or a moisturizing skin creme under it. if your skin is oily, be sure to clean your skin very good before applying makeup. whatever you do, DO NOT USE AN OIL-FREE MAKEUP. it will dry out your skin even more whch makes (dun da-da da!!!) more oil. hope this helps!! good luck
Elf is AMAZING if you know what to look for and buy. Seriously..some of the products are definitely worth the price and I swear to you I use at least 3 elf products everyday.

    Here's what I like:

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance - This is a god send...it's more of a highlighter than bronzer so boo elf for calling it that but it's frikkin amazing. It'll give your face this amazing golden glow that looks natural!

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sunkissed Glow - use as blush (a bit) and it looks sooo natural!

All Over Cover Stick - makes for an amazing concealer!...seriously...i have awful under eye circles....nothing works except this stuff. I'm sure Mac or something else high end is better but I'd be happy if I just got this!

Shielding Hydrotint - As an all over tinted moisturiser? I don't know. But as a concealer it's great!

Candy Shop Lip Tin in Frosting Fanatic - Okay this'll scare you its like an orangey goldy colour but on the lips?...Perfect nude golden glow! It actually shows as well.

    Eyeshadow brush - amazing...full stop.

Blending brush - as good as high end ones.

Moisturising lipliner in Natural Blush - perfect nude pink lip

Blusher in Glow - AMAZING...pinky peach glow!

Eyeshadow in Sage - others are amazingly pigmented too but thats my favourite along side mocha.

Oil blotting sheets - 50 in a pack!...great if you're not tooooo oily.

Super Glossy Lip Shine spf15 in Candlelight - I have most of them and love them but i'm a sucker for a nude lip and this is amazing. It tastes great, smells great isn't too sticky but don't use too much otherwise it can be a bit gloopy. very pigmented though..

    What I didn't like:

All over colour stick - tooo frosty...no point to it...now use it as an eyeshadow base.

Shimmering Facial whip - gives an okay glow but i'm not crazy about it...i use it as a base now.

Face brush - I use this everyday but it isn't amazing...kinda scratchy.

Blush, blending bronzing brush - it's okay for contouring but too small for blush.

Waterproof eyeliner - it's looks great but smells funky.

Eyelash curler - I heard some amazing stuff about this but it didnt work on me...maybe it'll work for you.

The eye brushes are definitely worth the money but the face brushes not soo much...i definitely prefer my MAC 187 instead.

    Hope this helped!

all make up as low as 1$ EACH!.. except for their mineral make-ups which are always pricey. Okay so first let me tell you that cheaper make-ups dont mean that they have poor quality as well. Remember that we have generic drugs which are way cheaper yet offers the same effect..And also other expensive make-up brands are paying too much for advertising and promoting their products through their perfect packaging style but as you can observe ELF uses simple and less complicated packs which are even practical. Person behind this amazing make-up line works for Neutrogena and hard candy products too. Its always wise to start with cheaper brands before indulging into something you might just regret later on. Their brushes are good. Heres a good link to ELF consumers about their reviews and comments on ELF's brushes: http://www.bellasugar.com/677861
If you are a beginner, it's best to see how you work with different colors and such, but I wouldn't suggest that you torture your skin with cheap, bad quality makeup and makeup brushes. Yes, the price is intriguing, but you will be regretting it later! Do yourself a favor and go to your local drug store (CVS, Walgreens) and start off with those brushes.
    yeah it works good :)

oh dude........ they're switching their brand name EFL into just NORDSTROMS so they're selling all their make up for a dollar!!!!!! %26lt;3

When you work for MAC Cosmetics do they provide brushes?

I just got hired at MAC and I start this week. Do they provide you with brushes, do you have to buy them, or are there like brushes that are community property that is just kept clean? When you work for MAC Cosmetics do they provide brushes?
Congratulations and welcome to the MAC Family! Or the cult as I call it. You will get brushes, in fact, if you have a good manager, your tool belt should be packed full with every brush available. However, you do not get to take them home and use them for personal projects. You do get the 60% discount to build your own brush collection, which will save you so much money!

At my counter, we color coded all of our brushes or taped them, so they did not get mixed up among the artist, although it happens regularly. We are responsible for washing our own brushes before we leave for the day (please use the MAC brush cleaner and a very gentle baby shampoo, nothing too harsh.) You will learn all this as you go, but again, congratulations! MAC is the best place to learn your skill and open your creative mind! When you work for MAC Cosmetics do they provide brushes?

But synthetic brushes are just that, synthetic.

Natural bristle brushes are usually made out of goat hair.

What is cosmetic brush bristles made of?

Some of the brushes from Sephora are made from Raccoon hair, so I stopped buying those. Most inexpensive brushes are made with acrylic hair, the same hairs they use to make acrylic wigs. What is cosmetic brush bristles made of?
THEY R MADE OR ANIMAL HAIR LIKE RABIT HAIRWhat is cosmetic brush bristles made of?
different kind of animal bristles. cheaper ones are made of plastic.
it depends where they are made from.

test it out, get an old brush, and go over it with a straightener.

    does it melt?

if so, then youve got a plasticy one!

that IS NOT MADE FROM ANIMAL HAIR.
It depends. Some of them are made from animal hair, like goats or racoons. Sometimes it is synthetic hair.
It depends on the quality. The ones you are looking at are synthetic and really suck. I use the ones from Bee-Luscious. They are all natural hairs and the best quality. Be careful of cheaper hairs like raccoon and such they don't work as well.

MAC cosmetics brush question for those who know - 187 or 190?

I'm new to makeup. For a lot of reasons, I was never taught what to wear or how to wear it. I'm getting used to a few little things, but I've started to wear liquid foundation by MAC.

My question is, which brush would be easier for a beginner...the 187 or 190? I am currently using the 190, but still have a little trouble with a streaky look. Someone mentioned stippling instead of using a regular brush. Would this be a bit easier for a beginner?

Thanks!! :-)MAC cosmetics brush question for those who know - 187 or 190?
187 gives u an airbrushed look. just stiffle the foundation to your face

190 is better for beginner. you have to criss-cross your brush when applying foundation to avoid the streaking.

for beginner i always recommend my clients to use a sponge. =)

As a MAC addict and make-up artist I'm going to have to say neither of those brushes. I use the 109 for my liquid foundation and love it and recommend it to anyone looking to buy brushes. It's really easy to get light coverage and build your way up, buffing out streaks is very easy with this brush.

I mainly use the 187 and the 188 for blush/highlighter/bronzer, I personally don't agree with using it for liquid make up. But than again you can use any brush you want as long as you get the coverage you want.

I'm not a fan of foundation brushes like the 189-191, it seems to give too heavy a coat and tends to be streaky and hard to buff out.

I would ask your MAC sales associates for assistance and ask them to show you the different coverages the brushes give. (If you use Studio Fix, I really would suggest the 109)
Yeah I have the 187 and I love it :) It's very easy to use. It leaves you with an airbrushed but a natural look. What I do is I put some foundation onto the back of my hand take my 187 brush mix the foundation, take my brush and stipple it onto my cheeks, forehead and chin. Then blend it all over. Then you have a flawless, airbrushed look :)
The 187 will give u faster and airbrushed look. If the 190 is streaky, u have to blend in more. Try stippling with a sponge after u use the 190.
